This scene is from Varadero, a popular beach resort town in Cuba. It’s mainly a tourist area, but there are some interesting things to see, so it’s well worth a visit. Some of the hotels date back to the 1950s before the Cuban revolution. Varadero has many hotels, employing over 50,000 in tourism and related industries. It’s only a 2 hour drive east of Havana, and is on a peninsula that is just 1.2 km wide, at it’s widest point.
Xanadu Mansion, where this view is from, was originally constructed in 1930, and declared a national monument in 2013. There’s a panoramic bar, serving cocktails with live music, and also a restaurant and golf club. The bright blue hue of the ocean compliments the white sand beach, where swimmers and holidaymakers are at the taking a swim. The mansion is right on the water, and waves crash against the rocks below, creating a beautiful scene.
